But most dentists do not refer this type of retainers because of the fact that they wear out after a few years and hence need to be replaced. Permanent Bonded Retainer-This type of retainers, placed at the back of the teeth, especially at the back of the six front lower teeth. Hence it stays in the mouth round the clock. The advantage of using this retainer is that they keep teeth well and cannot be seen from outside. However, these kind of retainers can cause abrasions in tongue and are not preferred by many.
