using bright decorative planters, lighting (hanging or solar powered lights)
can create a real buzz as can decorative statue and figurines.
•
Segmenting your space - Providing you have sufficient space you can also consider
segmenting your outside space into different functional areas - for example you
may have a seating area for dining outside, you may have a paved area, a lawn
area or vegetable plot for homegrown produce. By utilizing different areas you
can make your outside space more interesting and functional.

you would any other room of the house and plan your color scheme- utilizing
random colors can give your garden a cottage garden theme but consider how you
might use color in sections in your garden to accentuate it's beauty. However
it's not just plants that can add color to your garden but appropriate use of
outdoor paint for fencing and garden buildings can make a real difference too.
•
Water features - there's a huge range of water features available - these can
either be utilized within a pond environment or as standalone features - they
can create a calming tranquil aspect to your garden. They can be easily
installed (always use a qualified electrician to handle any wiring) and are
long lasting.
•
Play Time - for families with young children the garden can be a great place
for children to explore and have fun in - make it entertaining for them -
consider spaces for them to play in (and keep dry in the damp weather) - above
all encourage them to use this space!
